It's time to finally let you all know that our new album 'Candy Cigarettes' will be out on 9/18.  The journey to make this album started nearly four years ago.  We once again worked with Mark Nevers who has produced all of our albums so far.  Mark is as big of a contributor as anyone to the sonic landscape and depth of our recordings.  He has a unique knack for letting the band do its thing until many unexpected accidents unfold.  About half of these songs were recorded at Mark’s studio Beech House Recording in South Carolina and the other half at the fabulous Space Bomb Studio in Richmond, VA with assistance from Alex De Jong.

We leaned heavily on our regular touring band on this one with Isaias Gil (drums), Mark Riddell (bass), Jeremy Nuncio (synths and keys) and Katie Rushing (violin, BGV) all making heavy contributions.  In a lot of ways, the comfort and sound we have developed playing with this crew over the years shows up in the songs.  We also got some contributions from some Leon friends old and new with Kai Welch, Justin Paciocco, Paul Niehaus, and Mahesh Pathmakumara all making an appearance.  There are some spectacular string arrangements by Peter Stopchinski.

The rich cover artwork and other design for the Candy Cigarettes universe is a creation of Ventral is Golden.  It’s really cool and an apt companion to the songs.
